WWE Raw Hits
JBL and Shawn Michaels: The tension builds every week and the pop will be huge when HBK finally snaps and hits Sweet Chin Music on JBL. I didn't care for the way JBL stole Chris Jericho's monotone delivery initially, but it's really clicking in the storyline with Shawn.
John Cena and Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton and Chris Jericho: Good drama regarding whether Michaels would turn on Cena. Here's yet another example of how losing a match did no damage to Jericho. Are you paying attention, TNA? Overall, the best match of the night and a good buildup for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
John Morrison and The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston: Give these guys some mic time and let them sell the tag titles. Sure, Morrison and Miz were given basic mic time before the match, but I want the company to focus on the tag titles. Let the champions put over how the titles make them the best team in the company, and give the challengers a chance to explain what winning the tag titles would mean to them. It's not complicated. That said, the match was entertaining and I'd like to see more from these two teams. Plus, it was nice to see Mike Knox get his balls back.
Vince McMahon returning: I'll give this a "Hit" for now, but I reserve the right to change my tune if the main reason he's returning is to piss and moan about the congressional interview being released.
Melina: She's stepped up her in-ring work since she returned from the heel injury. Granted, we only see her in small doses, but she makes the most of the time they give her. I'm looking forward to her match against Beth Phoenix at the pay-per-view.
Cryme Tyme: Huge pop for Shad and JTG during their entrance. I still don't understand the appeal of the act, but there's no denying it's over.
WWE Raw Misses
C.M. Punk vs. William Regal: The cheap DQ finish was lame. What's worse is Stephanie McMahon coming out, acknowledging the cheap finish, and saying she couldn't let the first title match of 2009 end that way...only to let the first title match of 2009 end that way. Why not restart the match? Strange segment.
The Legacy: Honestly, I'd be just fine if Manu and Sim Snuka were not included in Randy Orton's faction, but my guess is that everything we're seeing is a big swerve that will culminate with Cody Rhodes, Manu, and Sim Snuka all helping Orton win the Royal Rumble match. When is Ted DiBiase coming back?
